A silage clamp can fail in three places: across the surface, along the walls, and wherever the cover isn’t sealed. Oxygen only needs one open door to start spoiling your feed. That’s why Silostop Agri designs its products as a system, and why we recommend looking at the whole clamp rather than just the film on top.
1. The surface: Silostop® Orange film
The surface is where most spoilage starts. Silostop® Orange is a 9-layer, 45-micron high oxygen barrier film that keeps oxygen out far more effectively than standard polyethylene film. Read why so many farmers trust it.
2. The walls: Silostop® Wall Film
Concrete and brick silo walls are porous, so oxygen can seep in along the edges even when the surface is perfectly covered. Silostop® Wall Film lines the walls to close off that zone. We explain the problem in The Forgotten Zone.
3. The seal: Silostop® Gravel Bags
Silostop® Gravel Bags hold the cover down and seal edges and seams, replacing tyres that fill with water and leave gaps. The rule to remember is no gap larger than 4 metres between rows of weights on the surface, and a fully sealed perimeter. Our post Gravel Bags vs. Tyres has the full comparison.
Why a system beats single products
Each product protects a different part of the clamp. Use only one and oxygen finds the others. Used together, they give you a clamp that is covered, lined and sealed from top to bottom.
